Dr. Susan Reimbold is a board-certified Optometrist. She provides personal family eye care with a special emphasis in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. She also has extensive knowledge of reading disorders and learning differences to benefit parents of patients struggling in school. She has been in private practice in the Atlanta area since 1997.

After earning a Genetics degree from the University of Georgia she went on to Pennsylvania College of Optometry. There she earned her doctorate degree with honors and was selected as clinician of the year for her class and beta sigma kappa. After graduation she was honored by being selected to complete a rigorous ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center / Johns Hopkins University’s Wilmer Eye Institute. There she specialized in the management of ocular disease, refractive surgery, glaucoma, retinopathy, and ocular effects of systemic disease. She has been published and has lectured at many conferences including the International American Academy of Optometry meeting in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Reimbold currently enjoys conducting clinical research for dry eye and glaucoma studies at Coastal Research Center in Roswell, GA and she is working  to develop a dyslexia center to service all the therapies and needs of children with reading disorders including; parent education, occupational therapy, educational therapy, vision therapy, speech pathology all under one roof. Our goal is to preserve self esteem, focusing on each child’s unique gifts while strengthening their weaknesses.

She lives in Cumming with her husband and their two children. She home schools both her children, develops and teaches a science lab: S.T.E.M. Prepared Labs to promote a love for science in young children, is involved with teaching Atlanta Rhythm Cadets indoor drum line and enjoys Hiking and being outdoors.

Avery is 12 years old and has 7 years experience working with patients. She is currently homeschooled and takes two science classes because she strives to be a vet. She loves science and al her pets, Sarah bear and Alvin her 2 frisky ferrets, Poseidon her exotic parrotlet and her Afghan hound Bishop, that loves to take up her entire bed. She cares for all of them just like she cares for all the patients Dr. Susan has the pleasure of seeing. She is currently developing a website to educated people on exotic pets and there needs to keep these precious pets from being abandoned because they are hard to care for.

Lisa Twomey
Lisa TwomeyLead Educational Therapist and Advocate
Lisa comes to Dyslexia Therapy Centers of Atlanta with ten years of teaching experience from Europe and USA, and from both public and private schools. She graduated with honors from Dublin City University in Ireland, in 2000, with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism, before pursuing her post-graduate teaching studies at the prestigious St. Mary’s College in London.
Along with her lifetime teaching credential from the U.K., she holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching Leadership from St. Mary’s University of California, where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a specialization in handwriting and emergent fine motor skills. In addition to her teaching experience, she is also a published writer, and mom to an energetic two year old daughter!

Lisa is passionate about incorporating multiple intelligences teaching and learning in the classroom, and helping each child to find his or her unique learning style to thrive. She firmly believes that each child has been given unique gifts and abilities, and can achieve their very best in school with thoughtful and directive teaching. She believes strongly in the role of the parent as educators of their children, and from ten years in the classroom, understands the important relationships that schools and parents can develop to give their children the very best start to their education.

As Lead Educational Therapist and Program Developer at Dyslexia Therapy Centers of Atlanta, Lisa will work with you to develop a program that best fits your child’s educational and intrapersonal needs. She will coordinate the different therapies we have on offer, such as vision, occupational and educational, and help customize a program that works best for you and your child.

She will also help you work with educational advocates, who will liase with your school, and together with the therapists in our center, she will help you access some of the most innovative and unique teaching strategies, to help you and your child cope with, understand, remediate and succeed with dyslexia.
